We got a mixed assortment of chicks, three of which are yellow chicks.

Now that their feathers are starting to come in can we tell what breed they are?

They have buff colored wing feathers, so I am guessing they are buff orpingtons, but I am wondering do any white birds start out with buff feathers, or do they all have white growing in right away? Like white leghorns - do they have white feathers right from the start (not including their yellow fuzz obviously)?

Thanks for your advice!

Yes, yellow babies can turn out to be white. It would really help though if you had a picture......

I'm pretty sure that a white chicken will start with yellow fluff that turns into white feathers first thing...sometimes markings get more distinct as a chick ages, but the original grow out color is usually the color of the adult.
