I need your help. I have three Buff Orpington Chicks that I need help sexing. Hatched July 4th, 2015. Approx 5 weeks old.

Goose (Not photogenic):

Rooster (Personal Favorite):

Bertha (The Biggest):

What's funny is that the lavender orpingtons I have that are the same age and same breeder all have very developed combs. Do All orpingtons age the same regardless of color? How much longer should I wait before reposting pictures?

Your lavender Orpingtons are likely males. Orpingtons in general are a bit slower to mature than other breeds. Cockerels are usually apparent by 10 weeks old. Their combs will be much redder than the pullets.

I had this exact same issue, and my Buff Orpington didn't start to look like a rooster until very recently, about 16 weeks. He was very slow to develop.

I agree they're not screaming cockerel now, but Orpingtons can fool you. Keep an eye out for red comb development and darker shading of the buff color on the wings.
