Hello folks, my Orpington’s are 27 weeks of age and have no comb and are pale- absolutely no signs of laying, their rooster is mature and fantastic but they just seem under developed-
Is it something I’m doing wrong?
Did the breeder tell me a different age (I got them at 16 weeks) she’s very reliable

I’ll include pics

Hi, it could be that it is just colder out and not developing as fast. I had Bared Rock that had that problem and it was also in the winter then when it started warming up and was summer their combs grew fully out. I don't think there is anything to worry about. Also, with them not laying eggs they usually start laying around 3 to 6 months or sometimes it can be longer. That also was the case with my chickens.

They look like the right age. About 27 weeks. Cockerels will always mature much faster than the pullets. They look healthy so I'd say just give them some more time. Nothing you can do to speed up the egg laying.
Ok, any ideas on how much longer I’d be waiting, (so I can schedule my breeding plans)

Are they squatting for Freddo? Showing any interest in nest boxes or becoming more "talkative?" Those are signs they're getting close but to be honest... looking at those combs and wattles I think you're several weeks away.
