I have 4 chicks. .well they are actually in the " i dont know what age there are " right now the Roo got some waddle`ing going on and a decent size comp..so maybe 3 month old?

Anyway.. 1 hen has yellow feet.. roo and other 3 hens have gray`ish colored feet.. Actually 2 have yellow feet other 2 are yellow .. well either way.. they not the same color..
Is that normal or is that telling me they are not purbred ? its not the heaa or cold they dont change much when cold footed or warmfooted.
But one is a roo and one is a hen that has the same color foot.. I know that for sure..
will take pictures tomorow sometime and post them as it is now dark and late.
Is that normal with different colored feet or mayeb an indication that i have some maybe not so pure BO`s? and if so.. I dont mind. .was just curious really..
thanks

Petra

Buff Orpingtons have white or pinkish legs and feet.

I recently asked the same question. 2 of my BOs have white(ish) legs and 1 BO has yellow legs. Was told that the one with yellow legs is a mix....possibly buff rock.

Where did you get yours from? Online hatchery or local? I got mine from HealthyChicksandMore. I would think that a professional hatchery could keep their lines pure. Guess not but doesn't matter to me....love them all the same.

Chicken genetics can get fairly complicated pretty quickly. All breeds were developed from others, so there is no such thing as a purebreed. Any way, to keep it short, if you have hatchery chicks there is an excellent chance something other than buff orpington is in their recent ancestory. Other breeds are sometimes mixed in to improve egg laying.

Didnt get thenm from a hatchery.. they came from a private person. Looking at his place.. I can understand he maybe has some mixes in there.

But either way .. it doesnt matter to me anyway. I was just curious more than anything. I love em just the same

Thank you for the clarification:)

we found our buff's from a farmer on craigslist. He had a couple that were "mutts". Still too cute to not get one. My 7 yr old son found a little gray one in with the buffs, named it and followed me around with it begging until I caved and let him keep it! It's named pablo, we have a post or 2 with pics trying to figure out what pablo may be.. LOL. even if your's are mixed, I'm sure you'll love them regardless. It's hard not to.

One of my buff orpington roosters I bought from a hatchery turned out to be a buff rock. Yellow legs and about 4 lbs lighter and not orpington shaped.
