I have a buff (sunny) who is 13 months old. she has been laying regularly before now, but was broody. i kept her in a wired cage with no bedding for a few days and i don't think she is broody anymore. but now she won't lay! I'm keeping her separate from the group because she gets attacked.she is eating and drinking. I'm pretty sure her crop is empty but i cant tell. if she had a broken egg in her wouldn't she trail clear liquid of some sort? she doesn't. and she doesn't feel egg bound. she is eating and drinking now but still no eggs! she doesn't even have eggs to be broody with. its still mid summer and the other buff (shine) is still just fine and with the rest of the chickens. what can i do? she was so sweet before she went broody!

if anyone knows anything about this please let me know! thanks.

Calm down, honey! It takes them several weeks to get back to laying once they have been broken of being broody.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! I too agree with Wynette, try not to panic and take a deep breathe :hugs From how you have described her she sounds fine and will be back to laying eggs once she has settled down from being broody.

Good luck, try not to worry and enjoy BYC :frow

I think there was a book title "Don't sweat the small stuff. And everything is small stuff." None of this is life or death just have some patience and let nature have it's way.
