Please help..my dear pet "Britany" has something on her thigh. It is the size of a marble, it is bleeding and ozzes clear liquid. What could it possible be? She is apx 2yrs old, she is eating good and her poop looks normal. Her comb is turning a pale orange....what does this mean?
I put some sugar on it, and I have it wrapped, so the bleeding seems to have slowed. It is Sunday, and we have NO vets nearby, I really need prompt help. How can I see pictures of other skin problems?

Sorry no one has helped yet I know it can be ery frustarting.. It sounds to me that she may have had a small cut or hematoma that has bust.. You can use Betadine to flush it out and triple antibiotic ointment to promote new skin growth.. Also electrolites or sugar in the water may help.. Sounds like a simple infection to me.. Good Luck

Can you post a picture??

I would clean the wound the a diluted betadine solution, pat dry and put neosporin on the wound before bandaging.

Separate her from the other chickens in case it is something contagious.

A pale or orange comb is a sign of anemia or sickness. How much blood did she loose?

A picture of the wound would help a lot. It might be a growth that one of the other birds pecked open or it could be an infection.

Thank you for your response, I am so sorry to report my dear Brittany died in my arms. I still have no idea what it was. Im sure the loss of blood is what did her in. She will be truely missed.

I am so sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss. So many of us are so close to our chickens. I'm glad she did not die alone.

Take care
