Building a Coop

Hi,
I just got my baby chicks this weekend and I know they are not ready for a coop yet but I am trying to get prepared in advanced. Is anyone in the Town of Brookhaven that knows what they regulations are for a coop? I have looked all over their website and can not find anything about chickens or coop regulations.

Time to prepare is before you even buy chicks...better get cracking, they grow fast! ....and building always takes thrice as long and costs twice as much as thought.

@Nikkis6Chix I'd call them and make sure the code amendment in linked article passed and what the rules are now.

We have purchased a coop already I am just trying to find what the bylaws are as for how far from the property line it should be ect. but thanks

The city has a department that handles codes. Email would be your best bet. Then you hear it directly from the source.

I would just go to the City Hall building department in that town and ask them for a print out sheet with all the current regulations.I would also save that sheet somewhere in case they change the regulations later on down the road, you can show that you have complied to the regulations of that time
