I am planning on building a new coop but the lumber is expensive does anybody know any cheaper ways to build one

Lowes has a reject lumber rack that is half price. Home Depot does too. My chickens didn't care that a 2x4 was a little curved, it just took a few more nails, that's all. I salvaged scraps from construction sites too. Never drive past a pallet! I scrounged used tin for the roof. You can find a lot of used materials if you just look for them. It took me a little while to get a good pile of materials, but I only spent $240 on my coop, most of that cost was the hardware cloth.

Later, I added a run using cow panels, but I built the frame and door with used and Lowes reject lumber. The real money was in the hardware cloth. I also bought "oops" paint for less than half price. Oops paint is paint that was miss-mixed and is marked down.
