I have a space under my deck that we used as a garden. It is a bout 8x12 and I want to enclose it with 5' welded wire fencing and then wrap it in chicken wire to keep small critters out. How would I put a roof on it so :

1. i could walk into the coop
2. Not have it sag and look like hell
3 Install a gate

Someone mentioned using a cloth roof or plastic fencing.

I am going to cement 4 post in each corner to hold the fence up.

thankx

I may not be understanding here so ignore me if I'm off.

If it's under the deck then your deck itself is the roof?? If you want to make it weather proof then you could use some screws to put sheathing or plywood up underneath the deck. You would want to make sure that rain could escape though or the wood would just rot if water collects on it.

To install a gate you would just need to cement two wood posts in the ground at the appropriate width and either buy or build a gate to attach to them.

I did something similar with my breeding pens. I use 4x4 fence posts as my corners and center supports. Then 2x4 to frame out the roof. You could use the plastic roofing sheets on yours since it would be under your deck. Pen is 8x16 total divided into 2 pens.

You could build a slanted roof by using fiberglass panels, just something to shed the water.

Suspend them under the deck by using a 2 X 4 frame.

Well the fence is only 5 foot so i will not be able to walk into coop upright. I already have the fencing. Can I use that plastic fence for roof and put a post in middle of coop?
