I am starting my journey breeding Large Fowl Blue Cochins. I have been looking for ideas and blue prints to build a coop, I had not found any I liked, or where in my budget.
So today I started redoing an old breeding rabbit hutch.
I will post pictures as often as I can and post how the construction is going.

This is what the rabbit hutch looked like before I started working on it.
There are 2 lids on the top held up by a latch that can be let down, and secured to the hutch to prevent predators from getting in.

.

This is the side of the hutch. I am hopefully going to make this lead into a run from the upper level of the "coop"

Right side of the coop before construction.

Left side of the coop before construction.

The left side after I pulled off old chicken wire, moldy and rotten boards covering some holes, and pounding out a board separating the two sides

My Frizzle rooster using the hole between the 2 sides, he approved.

I am hoping to finish in about one week

Will the bottom floor be grass or wood when you are done? Will you paint it? What is the roof? So far it's looking good. :) What are the dimensions?

Bottom floor will be grass/dirt. There will be a pophole going from the bottom floor to the main area where they will sleep. I may paint it not sure yet. The roof is just wood and I will later put tin on top of the wood. Not sure of the dimensions

Looking good :) I love looking at these kinds of threads. Usually I just watch from the shadows and don't comment though lol
