I did not bury the wire. I made an apron. Take about 18" of the welded wire and lay it onthe ground outside your coop and run, depending how you are set up. Leave the wire horizontal and attach it to the bottom wire of your run fencing. I used J-clips but you can use hog rings or another method to securely attach it. You can remove about 2" of sod, put the wire down, then replace the sod, but I just left mine on top of the ground. The grass grows through it pretty quickly. The theory is that the predator starts digging next to the fence, hits the wire and cannot get through, and does not know to back up. It is a lot easier than burying the wire straight down, especially in my rocky soil.
