Well, I won't need them for a month or two but I thought I'd get to it so I won't have to worry about them later.

I used the plastic bins that kitty litter comes in from Costco. I put bolts through them, top and bottom and then through the wall to the other side.

Then I cut 2/3 of the lid off so they can get in there and get comfy

Then I added a shelf above to store things. There is a lid with hinges so I can get into the storage and also to keep the chickens off of the shelf, plus to keep the dust down in there.

Later, I added a 2x4 in front as a landing spot before they go in. I used scrap plywood to keep it in place and sturdy

Thanks for looking

I've heard of people using 5 gallon buckets for the same, too, if you don't have a cat. You'd cut the lid in 1/2 instead of 2/3 off. The plastic is much easier to keep clean than having wooden nest boxes, from what I hear, anyway.

Be sure to put another triangle on the lift up lid on top of the nesting boxes. Hens love dark spaces and if they see that, they will knock everything off the shelf and nest in there.

Great idea!!!
