Hi, we have some new baby chicks but some of them have developed a bulging bottom. I've checked and they aren't pasty, they seem perfectly clean, I'm just not sure what this is...some advice pls? See attached pic...

Go ahead and look up ascites, but I've noticed that many of my broiler chicks look that way, but never end up dying or getting sick. I don't know if it's normal, it's just been my observation.

What kind of chicks are they? They look like Cornish X. If they are, I think that is normal. It was for mine anyway.

My broilers always look that way. If they arent broilers or Cornish then I would be looking for something to explain it...

I have the same thing going on with an EE who is 2 1/2 weeks old, but she has runny poop. Not pasting up, but bulging behind (comes and goes) and runny poop. She is smaller than the rest, but seems OK.

If she isn't a fast grower, could it be something else?
