If I butcher a bull that is a year old never used yet....is the meat good to eat what I mean is does it taste bad and smell bad like a goat?

Thank you!

There is nothing wrong with bull beef. It is leaner than steer beef and it is harder to get a good finish on a bull. I'd feed him a lot of grain to fatten him up, but that's me. Whether or not the bull was used for breeding has nothing whatever to do with the quality of the beef. BTW, bulls that do not prove out good enough at the AI bull studs end up as hamburger. Good hamburger by the way.

As for the goat, if care was taken during the butchering process so that the hair did not touch the meat, chances are the meat would be OK. Personally, if I were going to butcher a buck, I would first of all wait until he was out of rut, and secondly make sure he was not fed on browse for a few weeks before I butchered him.
