My Salmon Faverolle, Buttercup, is rapidly losing feathers around her neck and from her beard. I haven't caught anyone in the act of picking on her, but it hurts me to see her in her condition. I was wondering if there was a way to discourage pecking. (I put vaseline on her face when it scabs)

Is she old enough to be starting her molt? If she is not molting, one of her friends on the roost at night may be pulling out feathers and eating them. I have favorolles, and they did that to each other a lot. I thought it was because they were such docile birds. You can try anti pecking creams (PickNoMore, Nustock Cream,) but it could just be from boredom. Make sure they are getting enough protein in the diet—at least 16% up to 20%, and they are not overcrowded.

I have a feeling my faverolle is going to have issues and I really hope not because she is the sweetest thing. I will so make her an indoor chicken if they hurt her. No joke.
