So I started with 6 hens 2 years ago and am down to 4. 1 died about 1 month ago
Now, one of my hens, who is much smaller than the rest, is picking her feathers out and I witnessed another hen picking her HARD after she was up on her roosting bar for the night. Some say she is "molting" but NONE of the others are! I brought her in today and gave her a warm water bath with water only. I make sure she has pleanty to eat like cooked brown rice, sometimes cooked oatmeal with raisins, scrambled eggs, chick feed etc. She has no diarrhea. The sad thing is she waits for all the others go to bed before she attempts it. I put her up on her roost bar tonight when the other got her hard! Made me so mad. I have this very large cage 3 feet off the ground and is 3X4 ft enclosed. (my husband built it when I raised a baby squirrel) My question is this:.......am I on the right track to seperate her into this other slumber area and just baby her for awhile and how long? I can let her socialize SUPERVISED with the others etc during the day. AND how long will it take for those feathers to grow back in. She is pretty naked. Some are pinned but she does have alot of just bare skin,,, poor baby. PLEASE let me know your ideas out there.............
I hate to see BULLING
P.S.In April I wormed and dusted them for mites.
