We just got our order in today with 10 Kahkis and 5 Pekin. One of the boy Pekins is running around like a crazy maniac nipping all the other ducklings, like he can't stop. I think I just saw him pull out some fluff. I think I am going to have to seperate him, he will be alone, what should I do to make him comfy? Has anybody else had a maniac duckling. He is making me mad. LOL.

Wow! Are these day-olds? Hatched with a bad outlook, that one!

I would set him apart where he can see the others, and where he has a cuddly something. Once he has had a little chick grit, I would start him on finely shredded greens in the hopes it will help him settle down. I read in Storey's Guide that greens can help prevent feather eating and picking.

He may just be reacting to the trauma of travel. Perhaps some cuddling and attention will bring him around.

Thanks Amiga! I think you were right and he was just stressed. I went ahead and left him in with the others last night, and I am not noticing him acting badly this A.M. Or maybe he just figured out that him against 14 other ducklings was not such a good idea! If he starts back up, I will get him a toy and put him by himself and see how it goes.

Instead of isolating him from the others if he acts up again, you may want to give him a friend. Keep trying different ones till you get one he can't bully.

Hey! How are you and your flock doing? It was great to see your avatar pop up. I would have pm'd but your box if full.
