Hi all. I have a new flock and I have noticed that my Olive Egger, Laverne, is just nasty to 2 of the other hens. She'll sneak up behind them while they are eating and peck their behinds making them scream and run away. My little Lola, a blue lace red Wyandotte, is such a nervous girl now. I have read up and plan on seperating Laverne for a week to 10 days then reintroduce her. I'm hoping this will re-set the pecking order. Laverne has also stopped laying. No eggs for 5 days. Not egg bound, no sour crop, eating like a champ and just being mean. My daughter-in-law said that if they had a bullying hen she was less likely to lay. I've never had that problem with previous chickens. Do you think my plan to separate and re-introduce will work?
