Hi all, I am new to chicken ownership, and aren't they fabulous?! Such curious creatures. I have 18 hens. Yesterday I noticed one had a swollen foot. I heard that could be Bumble Foot so I watched as many Yu toob tutorials as was sanely possible. So, feeling like I a direction to go in, I soaked the foot in epsom salts and warm water, and removed an ugly scab. Expecting to find a mass of yellow gunk, I found only a tiny ball of it to remove, and her foot was still very puffy. So, I lanced an area that was very puffy, and only a blood came out. But it's still very puffy. I think I didn't get everything. So I bandaged her with antibiotic cream, with the intention of checking her today. So, today, this is what it looks like, still very puffy and red. See the pix. What next? Did I do something wrong?

I have seen the scab on the foot pad, and also the swollen area between toes and on top of the foot. But I’m not sure why you didn’t get more solid pus. Did you squeeze both places pretty good? I would soak it a few more days in warm Epsom salts or soapy water and watch it. Sometimes using Betadine plus sugar made into a paste, or Prid drawing salve can be used with a dressing to help. The dressing of a 2x2 and vet wrap can be changed every day or every other day.
