Hey guys! I am in the middle of treating my chickens for bumble foot, and I was working on one of may hens, and one of the infections was apt 1/2 inch deep! I got 95% of it out but now she can't walk. she is stressed because she is not with the other hens, but she is unable to walk so she will get picked on. she is at the bottom of the pecking order as it is! should I keep her inside?

this is the second time this month they have had it too! it is the same ones that keep getting it, I don't think it ever fully healed.

Pictures would be helpful. Can you describe what you have done for treatment? When cleaning out a foot with bumblefoot, especially if it's a larger/deeper lesion, if all the infection is not cleaned out then it will just regenerate, and keep coming back. Sometimes it can take repeated cleanings, and a fair amount of manipulation to remove any gunk in there (it can adhere to healthy tissue). If we could see it as it is now, and know what you have done, it would be better to advise you going forward.

I have it rapped up at the moment. I cleaned it very well. she is limping a lot but I put her back in the coop. they seem to be doing fine right now. on the other hand my most aggressive hen got the same infection (I think that's what it is) on her comb... I will post pics of that. if anyone has advice about how to treat that it would be very helpful!

I would guess that is either fowl pox, or a pecking injury. Fowl pox is transmitted by mosquito's, there is no treatment, it usually runs it's course in a few weeks and the scab will eventually drop off. If it's a pecking injury, they usually heal on their own relatively quickly, probably nothing need be done. If you want to, you can dab a bit of iodine on that spot.
If you are still concerned about the bumblefoot, get some pictures next time you bandage.
