Hello, newbie chicken person here - I noticed this on a foot of one of our pullets (17 weeks old). Should I treat her for bumblefoot (soak it to loosen the bump) or just keep an eye on it yet? She's acting fine. I just don't know how proactive to be, bumblefoot sounds nasty if not caught early. Thanks in advance for any advice!

I always treat for bumblefoot if I see any signs that infection could be developing.

It is one of those things that can definitely get bad if untreated, and it is much easier to get rid of when it hasn't had a chance to sit and get worse.

If this was one of my birds, I would definitely be trying to soak and loosen the scab. It doesn't look particularly infected to me aside from the presence of the scab, so with any luck, it will already be mostly healed.
