My girl has some bad bumble foot and a huge scab. wondering if anyone local knows how to or is willing to assist me in surgery. brewster, ny

Pictures sometimes help to tell how bad it is. I see bumblefoot a lot in my chickens because there are sharp rocks in my ground. High roosts can also be a cause. I tend to ignore bumblefoot unless there is redness, swelling, or limping, because some cases don't progress very far. You can do both feet at once, but I tend to do one, then wait a week or so and do the other if possible. Here are some good links (both with a videos of surgery) for you:

Thanks I was able to help one hen a few years ago it looks like a huge scab and there is red puffiness between her toes I have started soaking in Epsom salts spraying with vetrycin and using an antibiotic ointment. Wrapping etc. this worked last time but she was always hobbling. I just don't think I can do the surgery if this does not help :( . I guess I will give it a week.

Procaine Penicillin G is sometimes used to treat bumblefoot. Do you have any chicken friends who may help you do the surgery? Tricide Neo is a product that some people have used with success. If there is puffiness between the toes, it sounds as though she needs the surgery. A vet can do it for you also.
