hi! Two of my girls have had bumblefoot for about 2 weeks now. I have been treating daily with Epsom salt foot soaks (5 min) and spraying Theracyn. Lovey had her larger scab removed and a nugget and some pus came out behind it. JoJo has it on both feet, no surgery yet. I have changed treatment since reading these threads and now soak with Epsom salts daily, spray with Vetericyn plus hydrogel and wrap. Both seem to be improving but I’m a newbie. JoJo has it on both feet, one scab very small and the other larger. Both seem to be sloughing off and seem to be moving “into” her foot. (When cleaning her feet, it feels just like a regular foot, no scab) although the light brown circle is still there. (I’m going to try and post pics, the first two will be Jojos feet) My concern is that I applied some Smiles Prid ointment and her foot pad is now very firm and not squishy although there’s no sign of infection. (Redness or yellow and no sign of pus) also, they were on 250mg of amoxicillin for the first 8 days. Loveys seems to be improving also her scab is also sloughing off although it’s darker in color but no redness or signs of infection. I put the Prid on her two days and JoJo just one. (Again, trying to post pics, 3 rd pic is Loveys foot) Any help on if it looks like it’s healing I am so grateful for. My main concern is the hard foot pad. I really don’t want to need to do any surgery on JoJo as her scab is receding. Thank you so much for ANY help!!! Cluck!
NOTE!! : Just downloaded pics, the one with pink band is Lovey
In your first and third pic's it looks swollen to me so I would be inclined to remove the scab and clean those out. Your second picture it is small and not swollen so I think continuing to do topical treatments is ok for that one. Treating them topically often works for smaller ones, though it can take some time so you have to be patient. It's a judgement call on your part as to whether what you are doing is making improvement or not. I've never used Prid, so don't have any input on how effective it is, I know others have said it works. This link below is pretty much how I treat, I will sometimes with the larger ones apply decolorized iodine (any drug store will have) and wrap over night and that usually softens it up well for removal, sometimes works better than soaking. https://www.tillysnest.com/2015/12/non-surgical-bumblefoot-treatment.html/?spref=pi
