Bumblefoot question

I'm pretty sure that once that corn kernel-like piece comes out that the bird can handle whatever else is in there, and you just treat it like a non-advanced case. Are you doing surgery right now?

Bumblefoot is a staph infection and it must be completely removed. Even if the kernel is removed, it's best to continue digging around and squeezing the heck out of the footpad until the infection is completely removed. There will be alot of blood, soak it up with a paper towel and inspect the hole as best as you can. It has to be free and clear of infection.
Then flush the hole with betadine, pat dry, pack it with Neosporin and put a gauze over it and wrap it up with duct tape. Use scissors to cut strips of duct tape to go between the toes when wrapping it up.

Okay. Thanks everyone. I pulled some out. It's wrapped now. I will probably check it again tonight to see that it is clear.
I hope you flushed the hole with betadine and then packed it with Neosporin before wrapping it up. Leave it wrapped up for 4 or 5 days giving it time to heal properly before removing the wrapping and gauze. It should be almost completely healed. Then you can re-wrap the foot, make sure you put Neosporin on the gauze before wrapping it up.
Then remove it in about 3 or 4 days and it should be completely healed.
