We are attempting to remove the kernel from a chicken with Bumblefoot, but I’m but I’m not finding it, and I’ve pressed hard, soaked, etc. I can see white stringy stuff that seems attached inside the hole. Is this flesh or infection? I didn’t want to pull on it because I thought it was flesh. You can see the white stuff and it all seems attached. It was soft and not what I was expecting to see so I thought it was flesh. Please help. What was I looking at?

One if my hens had the same stringy white stuff when she had bumblefoot. I continued to wrap and apply antibiotic ointment along with Epsom salt poultice and it did heal within a month.

Here are some things I used to treat the bumblefoot. The Kelp Granules I mixed in with yogurt. It helps take away infection and keep them healthy.

Pus can be liquid at first since it is white blood cells, then stringy, and then form a hard cheese-like kernel. When I have cleaned one out like that I just pack it with Neosporin and put a gauze pad, and wrapped it with 1 inch strips of vet wrap. Other common treatments use sugardine (a paste made of sugar and a fee drops of Betadine,) applied with a similar bandage, or Prid drawing salve and a bandage. Soaking in warm Epsom salts can be helpful. Here is a good link, and at the bottom is a video of how to apply a bumblefoot bandage:
