Bumblefoot with no visible wound?

Is this bumble or something else? There's no scab and I'm leery of cutting it open and exposing her to the "elements." We've been watching this for a couple of weeks and it's not getting significantly better or worse. She walks, runs and bears weight on the affected foot but will sometimes hold it up when she stands.

Wipe her foot off, please, it will be easier to find the dark mark.

To me, it looks like it may have been injured on that top area, but the picture is not clear enough to see detail. I've circled where I'm talking about below. I would soak the foot and use a soft toothbrush to clean it up well, get all the gunk and dirt off, and try to get a clearer picture of that area, and of the bottom cleaned off. I would guess that area is full of pus.

That was new last night. It looked like she might have been pecking at it. Some loose skin and a tiny bit of blood but no scab like I've seen on other hens with bumblefoot.

Agree, looks like there's a spot on top of the foot.

Sorry for the delay. I soaked her foot in epsom salts and cleaned her up. The bottom of the foot looks normal but the top is more swollen. There is a black area but it's under the skin, there's still no scab.

Completely unrelated but I just noticed I'm wearing Star Wars shirts in both pictures. Maybe I should update my wardrobe

Many years ago, I was in Walmart and they had Ladies T-Shirts marked down to $1 each on clearance. All that they had in my size were RED! I bought 5 of them. For a couple of years, basically all I wore at home was a RED T-Shirt, I'm sure the neighbors thought I never changed clothes

Thank you for the photos. That is Bumblefoot. Bumblefoot is basically defined as "infection of the foot". So you'll want to treat it as such. This article may help.
