Bumblefoot with no visible wound?

Thanks for the quick reply!

I've dealt with bumblefoot before but it's always had an external scab to start the process from. I've got everything I need so I'll get to work on her this afternoon. Unless you have a better alternative I'll just use a sterile scalpel to open the top of the foot and go from there.

That's what I'd do. Likely it's full of pus.

I agree. There is a small spot on the bottom of the foot, that may be where there was originally a starting spot and it may have healed. But sometimes when they heal that way there is still infection inside, and it can tunnel to other parts of the foot, I have had birds where that happened. Since all the swelling appears to be on the top of the foot at this point, that is where I would go in as well. I circled the spot below, you can also see how there is kind of a circle of tissue around that spot which looks different texture, which was probably involved at the beginning and has healed.

Did all the tissue inside look normal and healthy?
If it doesn't appear to heal normally with the TAO (and I would reapply until it appears to be healing well), then you can switch to sugardine packs. I have had good results with that when nothing else was effective. Those need to be done daily. Link to a thread that explains that, with a video on sugardine, post #8 here:
