Man I'm bummed. We bought 7 "hens" from rural king back in April. Was excited to get 7 laying hens. I always thought that 4 of 7 hens looked bigger than the others. I'm a first time owner, so I tried to stay positive and kept telling myself that they were all hens. But now I'm 100% positive that they are roosters. What gives this away? The crowing/cock-a-doodle-doo they make in the mornings and late afternoon. Oh well. Time to get 100% hens after finding homes for the boys.

so sorry :( Some stores sell chicks from not very well known hatcherys... If your going to buy chicks that arent colour sexed always ask the store what hatchery they order from. If you look here in the forums you'll find that some are better than others at sexing. hope you have better luck next time!

Thanks for your help. I really was wanting just hens. I'm ok with keeping one rooster. But I was over-whelmed when I found I had 4! Lol. Thanks again
