One of my Welsummer hens has bumble Foot! I saw her limping this morning and sure enough, she's got it...on BOTH feet. I have been getting all the things I need to do surgery if it comes to that. I have been reading up on it and will try soaking and massaging first.. She is in my "hospital" crate on the back porch, is eating and drinking well and otherwise behaving normally.

Several questions: If I need to do surgery, should I do surgery on both feet at the same time? One is more swollen than the other and I was thinking maybe I should wait to do the other. Can I wait a week to do the surgery, so I can get some help and the items come in that I will need? I have Tylan 50 as an antibiotic. What size syringe to use for a chicken and what is the dosage? Where do you give it? There are several good videos of this procedure for which I am greatful, but still have some questions. What kind of oral antibiotic do you recommend? How long before she goes back to the flock? Thanks for your help. Any other suggestions would be welcomed.

No response from anyone yet. Here is what I have researched. Injection goes into the breast muscle, using a 22 gauge needle. I will look at CVS today instead of waiting for online to arrive. Maybe the scalples also. The dosage is .75 ml/cc. Can I give this more than once? How often? I was thinking I could give it to her a day pre-op and then post-op. Any advice? She is still in pretty good spirits, doesn't have to defend herself in my "hospital" or walk much. today I will bring her some grapes as a treat. I will keep posting here so if anyone else is in this predicament, they can see my process. Would love some support from others who have been through it.
