I need to rescue my neighbors bunnies. They are pretty big and need nail clipping (which I've never done) and one has terrible mites in its fur.
I'm pretty sure he'll let me take them, as he doesn't care for them or anything. But I have no idea how to handle them or how to clip their toe nails or treat them.
Any advice would be so great. TIA.

Get some nail clippers made for cats or dogs. Put the rabbit in your lap, restrain it and clip away. If necessary wrap it in a towel and make a bunny burrito out of it. Just make sure you don't cut into the quick. Get a book on rabbits if you don't already have one. Storeys book on raising rabbits by Bob Bennett is a good one to start with. You can find it on amazon. I'm not sure how to treat the mites. Ivermectin ought to work but I have no idea what the dosage is. What do you intend to do with these rabbits? Keep them as pets? Raise them for meat? What?

We just started with meat rabbits about 2 months ago. I found an excellent book on Amazon called The Rabbit Raising Problem Solver by Karen Patry. Around $20.00 and worth every penny. It covers Pet and Meat Rabbits. Very detailed and comprehensive from grooming, cage size, breeding, illness, etc... you name it. I hope you can get the rabbits! Keep us posted :)
