burlap vs. newspaper

we're getting our baby chicks in april and we are wondering if burlap under the woodchips is a good or bad bedding.?(yes we know not to use newspaper!) I appreciate any info!thanks

I put burlap or an old sheet on top of the pine for the first week so chicks don't eat the wood

i use paper towels then rubber shelf liner. once a week take the chicks out give a good shake to knock off the poo and you good to go. no spradle legs
