I think they have tried them but dont really like them.From what I read it sounds like it is only toxic to mammals. Lots of wild birds eat the berries. It is all about what systems can handle and break down the substances and compounds that the berries contain. It is just like the way that cats can't tolerate permethrin and dogs can't eat a lot of chocolate, they don't have the ability to break it down.
