Hi chicken lovers! I took this sweet boy in two days ago at a discounted price due to an injury he received as a baby. He is now 3 months old and I'm curious on if he will possibly get feathering back when he gets his first molt. It looks healed but do I need to be doctoring it anything?

He is cute! I think it depends on how deep the burn was and if there are any remaining feather follicles there. He could be a bald and beautiful boy forever, but you might get a few sparse feathers to grow back. I hope you let us know if they do or don't fill in!

I don't think it would hurt to put some non-painkilling antibiotic ointment on it, just to keep everything healing and from drying out too much, but it probably isn't totally necessary since it looks like the risk of infection is low at this point.

Thanks for rescuing him and giving him a good home!

It looks healed up o.k.

If he were mine, I would not apply any ointment or do anything to the wound unless he's scratching at it or getting picked at.

Time will tell if he grows new feathers in that spot. I've had hens scalped before, most did regrow feathers eventually or at least the spot filled in enough to where it wasn't completely bald.
