I think one bcm and one Swedish are laying. 21 week old pullets.

They lay next to the box in a corner. At least one is burying eggs in the wood shavings. Is this normal? Eggs look and taste normal.

I alternated what I think are bcm and what are Swedish in the attached pic. 1,3 are darker/browner and narrower. 2,4 are tan and more circular.

I say 1,3 bcm and 2,4 Swedish.

Are you sure it’s a BCM?
Those are definitely really light for a Maran

These were $6.99 birds....might be the reason.

I ended up with 5. 3 cockerels and 2 pullets. One of the cockerels had Birchen patterns. The other two look correct.

2 of the cockerels were actually eaten by a Predator today. I still have the one pictured solo below. You can see the other two in the group pic on each side. And some not great pics of the pullets.

When they lay on the floor, then scratch around the eggs get covered up.
Probably not actually 'burying' the eggs.
Not unusual for new layer to lay anywhere and every where,
especially if there are no older birds to 'show them the way'.

Do you have fake eggs in the nests to lure them there?
Are nests easily accessible?
Pics might help here.

Here's some tips about how to tell.....

It’s totally normal. You can get fake eggs to lure them to nesting boxes. Also I had two BCM one who laid an almost white egg. It’s a recessive gene.
