We think our goose tried to mate our female duck this morning and she was killed-- we know it was something like that, broken neck, blood from the beak. We threw her in the freezer to chill... but, is it possible/safe to butcher her for consumption when she's been killed that way?

TIA!

Was she still warm? My mother was notorias for butchering our "found dead" pets. We came home from church one Sunday to find one of our pet rabbits, Snow White, dead by dog. She was still warm so mom got busy and we had her for dinner that night. I'll never forget that sick feeling sitting at the kitchen table with Snow White on a plate and my mother forcing me to just have at least one bite.

The meat won't hurt you no matter what because it is going to be cooked. I don't know what the difference would be in flavor since the bird was not properly bled, though. But then I don't think most of the ducks the proud hunters bring home are properly bled either.
