I have bunch of chicks that are 7 days old today, some chicks have butt feathers some don't. Your thoughts? The breeds are all diff. some of the welsummers have butt feathers, wing feathers too. Maybe they just feather sooner? I know they are color sexed, but some had the darker colors. Which breeds are best for feather growth guessing.

DIFFERENT BREEDS GROW AT DIFFERENT RATES. EVEN CHICKS OF THE SAME BREED WILL NOT NECESSARILY GROW OR FEATHER OUT AT THE SAME RATE. MY FAVORELLES SEEM TO TAKE FOREVER TO GROW AND CHANGE WHILE MY SERAMA CHANGE DAY TO DAY AND ARE LAYING EGGS BY TIME THE ARE SIX MONTHS OLD; MANY LAYING AT 4-5 MONTHS.

I didn't mean my post to be loud; forgot what my son told me about all caps.

Varys by breed, and sometimes gender. Our Black Jersey Giant male hardly developed any kind of tail for weeks and weeks, but his sister developed them pretty early.

I have some mystery birds, black Jersey giants look like some other birds. Some birds are easier to guess. This will be fun!

I got 8 dark hens 2 were SLW, 2 were BR you could tell by the white head. (not pictured)

below the still bird to the left,I believe is a Australorp.
