button hatched.....

You can give it about 12 hours to see if any others pop out to go along with it, but I wouldn't wait much longer than that. You just don't want to be opening it a lot because it drops the humidity too low for the ones still hatching.

I've fed my little wee ones game bird feed right from the start. Make sure you buy crumbles and crush them to the consistency of corn meal and sprinkle it around, as well as in a little dish (I used a coffee can plastic lid).

They are three weeks old now and I feed a game bird mix (still crushed), some finch seed and fruit pelleted finch seed and a product called Herb Salad, available online through Twin Beaks aviaries. They also get fresh lettuce and I'm introducing other things like little carrot shavings.

I used a chick waterer but put marbles in so that the little'uns wouldn't drown or get wet. At three weeks the waterer can be without marbles.
