3 days ago I had 2 chicks hatch. One of them was noticeably more unsteady on his legs that the first one. Today I found him laying alone and he couldn't even lift his head (Yesterday he looked stronger but he's smaller than his sibling - and this morning he was okay).

I took him out, gave him lot of water and tried to give some food (mixed with water) but that wasn't happening, So, I will keep giving him food and water as much as I can help him. But then he did this beak opening and closing ...? Video attached. I have him with his mother and sibling, there's a heat keeping the place warm too (in a large space) and he has his mother. I noticed their father pecked him when I put him back SO I have removed their father.

I will keep googling but anyone with experience with helping weak chicks, please send some advices.

Thank you

So, I can't attach a video but he opens and closes his mouth... doesn't look like gasping and he will still call out to his mom and chirp ... He only just now started doing it.

UPDATE: He has stopped gasping and waddled a little around. Theory is that he's a runt and his dad might have been bullying him so he was found dehydrated and might have not been able to eat properly. But hopefully he gets better from here :)

Update. He doesn't look any stronger today if anything his health seems to be failing despite my best effort. I found him wet, had fallen in his food goop and he didn't seem to eat. He's so small it's also hard to force him to eat :( I mix crumple with water and tru to give him that goop.
