I'm hoping to hatch some button quail at some point this year.

I'm not finding a lot of information on keeping them outdoors in an enclosure or even in an enclosure in a shed/garage. I'm in WV, so we do get some pretty cold winters that I would have to supply heat for them.

I'd love to know if it's possible and I would love to see pictures of setups for them.

They are originally from SE Asia, so they are accustomed to warm temperatures. It's not recommended to let them get below 40F at the coldest. I just lost one today because we had a cold snap and the windows of my house were open and a cold wind blew on their enclosure for quite some time before I noticed how cold it was getting.

I think if you wanted to keep buttons outside in WV, you would have to build them a completely draft-free enclosure and have an automated system running nearly YEAR ROUND that will keep the temperature at an optimal level.

Like Nabiki said, one brief cold snap will do them in. Even inside my house, if it gets below 64F they are huddling together and burrowing under one another like there's no tomorrow.

I'm so sorry this happened. Many hugs.
