So I been researching and reading the city ordinance law and policy. Emailing with the leaders about the ordinance.

I READ and was point to and come to the conclusion that I couldn't keep any chicken or fowl in the city. Man, reading those ordinance makes no sense and they always back it up with another.

Since I couldn't keep any fowl.

I decide that button quail should be the way to go. Since I read on here and many have pointed out that button quails are consider a different species apart from out state native quail. I should be allow to raise them as Pets instead of fowl/poultry.

Oh, Since button quail is consider as a pet, Petco seems to have a petscare sheet for them as well: http://www.petco.com/assets/caresheets/bird/button-quail.pdf date 2012 so it's pretty convince to me if I ever get into trouble, I can back it up.... I don't see them selling button quail in the store but im sure you can special order them in.

And our state is able to sell them in petstore down south. I don't see why not.

Now here is the kicker.

I will have to buy some eggs and hatch them myself...will be my first time.

I want to raise them as Pet but also the same time, they will provide me with free eggs if they chose so.

Anyone have done this and willing to comment?

I am a fish keeper and looking to downsize my tanks to allow this to happen in my room.

Oh.. ok well im not sure how your ordinance go but yes. You can keep them in a fish tank. I have mine in a 10 gallon tank and they are pretty happy. Good luck on getting yur eggs on when you do happy hatching. I had a bad experience on my hatch.. won't be hatching til my incubator is finished up. :)
