Button Qual Question

Ok.so I found one of my newly acquired Button Qual laying upside down in between the waterer and the cage......turned her over and she falls down,unable to walk,just lays from side to side......she is wide eyed and breathing good.......she will drink water,but not eat....this was yesterday morning and I figured she would have passed by now..but this morning she is alert and drinking water only if I make her.......should I put her down? or wait? hate to let it go on and on if there is no hope?

It doesnt sound good if she went from drinking fine(despite being on her back) and breathing good to today you having to force water and feed in her... I hate to say it but you may have to cull her... Although saying that I would give her till noon or late noon if no positive signs come out between now and then... Sorry about her being like this though....

Sorry OKIe, I don't know anything on Quail. Keep an eye out for Teach on the thread or one of the others that raise them.

thanks you two..she is still alive.seems fine other than not moving with falling....... will have to cull her I think, been thinking though.......a sling might work ! I hate culling

Thanks Doc...I will try that in the morning......she is young.....she is singing tonight.....still unable to stand.but alert and seems well.....I had a rooster stuck inbetween some wood panels......he was paralized like she is.but he ate and drank while crawling around for almost 2 weeks, he is normal now.... just dont want to kill her if it will change........she is indoors right now.they eat both chicken scratch and game bird.although she hasn't eaten anything in 2 days........just weird how she seems more alert tonight...

Ok,so this little button Quail is singing.eating and drinking on her own....she is able to push herself up with her legs...or sit on them with assistance.but cannot stand upright..she falls no matter what.......I just do not have the heart to cull her......thinking about building a sling and letting her live inside.....weird isn't it?
