Buying chicks from hatcheries.

When do you all plan on buying chicks in 2010? And from what hatchery?

I'd like to get some in the late summer from Ideal.

Some hatcheries are better than others when it comes to quality. Your smaller hatcheries do better breed wise as most breed there own and have certain breeders supply them. Big hatcheries like Ideal and MM are a crap shoot of quality as they get chicks from all over to supply the masses. Best time if you want a certain breed is to Preored for a certain dated. Many hatcheries sell out of certain breeds fast.

If you can buy closest to you. I am in TN but bought from OH as it is a one day drive for chicks to get to me. You can find hatcheries all over and feed store will have chicks in spring also. One very important thing do not have chicks arrive in FEB most will not make it. Better to wait till late March or latter when it is warmer.
