That is my unprofessional opinion now. 2 years in a row we've bought giant white turkeys from the local feed store. The first year none survived. The second year 1 our of 5 survived. My husband swore we would get no more turkeys. Good thing he's easily swayed. So I bought some bourbon reds from a local 4Her. One died the same day we brought them home and one had a horrid eye infection. I used pink eye drops I had left over on him and today his eye is open. Very exciting! Even more exciting is that we've had no more deaths! They are doing so well. Maybe it's a breed thing but I think it might be a local, good breeder thing. Finally enjoying turkey ownership!
