We'll be getting 8 silkie chicks in mid-March. I'd like to order a dozen Silkie hatching eggs for them to set, hatch, and raise (assuming my chicks have some ladies and aren't all cockerels!). About what time of year should I start looking at the eggs? I was thinking September, but I'm not sure. I'm working under the assumption that my Silkie hens will see the eggs in their favorite nest and immediately go broody. If I'm totally off base, I'd appreciate some guidance. Thanks!
