I’ve been raising chicks for the past few years and I usually buy from my local feed store and tractor supply. But I just took a huge loss to a fox and I’m looking to add to my flock to replace the ones I lost. What’s the better online hatchery? I’ve looked at Myers, cackle and stromberg so far.

Well what are you looking for? Are you looking for better quality or cheaper prices? I like papas poultry but that’s because of the quality, I’m pretty sure he’s more expensive though.

I’m looking for laying hens. But I want to make sure I’m getting pullets because tractor supply hasn’t been the greatest at sexing. The last 4 chicks I bought from them turned out to be roosters. I’m not so concerned with the price. Mostly that I’m getting quality eggs/chicks and that they arrive in good condition.

Yea I’d visit papa poultry’s page. He has sexed pullets as well as straight run.

12-17 dollars for sexed pullets. You could also get a variety box of 12 for 180. So yea a bit higher than most hatcheries but they are of good quality. He also does 20 for $13 each.

I've had good luck with Hoover's and Privett's. Hoovers ships minimum 15 birds, 25 for privett's. Both have reasonable prices. I got Hoover's Sapphire Gems and Amberlinks, and the sapphire were laying at week 18! the amber, very soon after that. Sapphire's have 290 large eggs/yr, 280 medium for the amber.

Never heard of them. I’ll have to check them out as well
