And dont want to get the wrong ones. Just refresh my memory, for eggs and meat, is it Cortunix quail? Or is there any other kind that are better?

Super!

I thought so but my brain was saying "What about Texas A& M quail"? so thought I would check!

A fellow on Craigs List is selling breeding trios for $10. Is that a good price and what should I look for if I get some? Bright eyes, fresh feathers and active but anything else?

I believe Texas A& M is just a white coturnix quail, but it still is a coturnix. I think $10 its a good price for a breeding trio, you should really be careful and ask about the age the older the quail is the less eggs it will produce if its older than 2 years old it might not be the best thing to do, try to look for alertness on the quails too healthy quails are pretty active.

corturnix come in about a million different types. Really they are just different colors and names. I think the A&M ones were bred to be beefier, but I could be mistaken.

NOT EVEN GOING INTO "THE GREAT WHITE QUAIL" THING.... NAH UH--- NOT GONNA DO IT!

Coturnix are coturnix--- no matter what the color or alleged breeding or strain name. Really the only 2 choices you have are scrawney(standard) and nice sized(jumbo)

Thanks JJMR, that makes it much easier!
I was kinda hoping for a Golden Gopher Quail here in MN

No word back from the seller but there is the farm meet tomorrow so might amble down there and see who has what.

So, would this be jumbo or regular?

"The quail are Cortunix quail. They are about 3-4 months old and laying eggs. They are about the size of a softball. They lay an egg about the size of a malted milk ball and it looks just like that too. "

Thats teh reply from the seller to my asking if they are jumbo or regular and what age they are.
