anyone have any info on where i can find info on by laws. I want to know if we can have chicks or not. I only have 1/2 acre in Mashpee, MA....anyone help??

I first went to my town's website to see what my property was zoned as (residential, limited residential, commercial etc...). That info was found under the tax data for the property. I then checked to see what restrictions were being imposed for my type of zone. It will be clearly spelled out in the zoning laws set forth for Mashpee. My town in Maine clearly listed restrictions on poultry depending on your zoning classification.

I've attached a link for you to use to retrieve your property info. http://www.assessedvalues.com/index.zhtml?jurcode=172
You
should be able to find what your property is classified as. I would then go to this web link http://www.ci.mashpee.ma.us/Pages/MashpeeMA_Assessing/DatabaseHelp
and
search out the by-laws for your zoning type.

Good luck. If you can't find the info online, then go to the town office and ask for a copy of the zoning restrictions for your property.

well there is always code enforcement but who wants to call them!!! AHHAHA

Zoning in my parts doesn't matter, we are residental but out of city limits so they don't really care. Now go a block over and forget about it!

I would just get 2 hens and have them in a coop with a run. now one will really know, unless you got a rooster!

You can also bribe your neighbors with eggs...
