(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Loved keeping chickens, pigeons and others as a kid - have recently re-discovered my passion for them as an adult!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Have one black Pekin Bantam Rooster named Joseph and his two 'wives' are Mary (a very pacid pekin hen) and her sister Martha (a very active old Pekin hen).

(3) What breeds do you have? Also got six hybrid layers (brown) and a Pekin duck and a "Road-runner" cock (Zimbabwean term for mixed breed chicken intended for the pot)

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Thru the world wide web! Appreciate your site so much!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Farming small scale in the back yard - supermarkets can buy from me for a change!

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I'm a Christian and am married with a 2 year old son - I work for a Trust which distributes the ACE (Accelerated Christian Education) curriculum in Zimbabwe (Christian homeschooling). We have many challenges on our side of the world (so do we all hey) but God the Creator of all living things is with us (and you)! May He bless u, thanks for a reading this (sorry if it's in wrong place).

Welcome to BYC!

So glad you could join our community! Yes, once poultry get into your blood, it is hard to dig them out of your heart.

Enjoy all your poultry adventures and if you have any questions, that is what we are here for.

Welcome to our flock!

Never did biology at school but but found the genetics interesting in my Pekin Bantams - black rooster paired with white hen = 1 black chick (male) plus 2 grey (or blue?) and 1 white (all girls)

Thanks brother, you wouldn't happen to know would you... the crows that we gt this side of the world (pied crow or whatever).. are they capable of taking a chick... or a fantail pigeon... I'm missing one of each and am told that it was a crow but cannot help thinking it was a hawk rather...???
