@Mtn Margie

Come say hello to @Mtn Margie! She's been a member since April 2010 and comes to us from the Colorado Rockies.

1. Tell us a bit more about yourself. And is there a story behind your member name?
I was always the wild child wanting to be outside in the forest with the critters, so here I am!

My pics are all buried in storage on hard drives. But, here is a pic that just pretty much seems to sum things up. I just love the wild changes in weather that happen without warning. It is "The Wind" in one of her moods. I think a person needs to have serious sense of humor to live up here.

2. Why and when did you start keeping chickens?
I started keeping chickens to feed my 4 sons healthier food and to teach them where "food" comes from. We would eventually raise our own turkeys and meat birds and process them ourselves.

3. Which aspects of poultry keeping do you enjoy the most?
The daily routine of chores is relaxing and watching them free range and having fun is a pleasure.

4. Which members of your flock, past and present, stand out for you and why?
My first Roo was a gentle giant of a mixed backyard flock and his offspring are still on the place. His current "Grandson"
was a product of 3 hens sharing the brooding and raising of the chick to maturity.

5. What was the funniest poultry related thing that has happened to you in your years as an owner?
I would say that watching the 2 banty roosters light out after my high school wrestler and send him hollering and sprinting uphill for the house at full speed was drop to my knees hysterical.

6. Beside poultry, what other pets do you keep?
I am down to one horse and one cat, for the moment, after many years of all different kinds of critters.

7. Anything you'd like to add?
I try to take a moment out of the busy days to just be, "Thankful!"

Nice to know a bit more about you @Mtn Margie . I stood outside a few days ago and watched a front move in. It was quite glorious to see the dark take over the light. Your picture of the clouds is amazing.

I respect people who teach their kids where their food really comes from, and that those little rooster might be small, but they are mighty.
