1. Tell us a bit more about yourself. And is there a story behind your member name?
My name Is Rae. I am from New York....no no not NYC I live about 8 hours from there in Niagara County. Though hoping to move back to the southern tier. But that's another story. I enjoy gaming and photography. With a new hobby I been taking ceramic and wine painting classes. My recent wine painting glasses
Story behind my user name I started raising budgies in 2005 started breeding them in 2008 so needed a name for that for my youtube channel at the time so instead of Budgie I switched it to Poultrybonkers. Name stuck ever since.
2. Why and when did you start keeping poultry?
I had chickens growing up and I remember my mom saying she was gonna sell them and I told her she can sell all but the black and white ones there was two at the time didn't know the breed at the time but I just love black and white animals lol. Years later found out they were silver laced wyandottes.
So years pass and its 2011 and tsc sent a flyer for baby chicks and my mom said I can go get some so we went and got 6 white birds and two ducklings on 20110321
and then went back days later and got 2 red birds and 4 fuzzy looking ones didnt know breeds at the time.
But my first chicks where 3 leghorns and three white rocks then sexlinks and silkies. A month later 20110420 my pair of white chinese geese came in the mail.
because growing up my mom had an agressive one that attacked me so wanted her to be attacked but I over snuggled them and they never attacked anyone lol so that backfired. lol Then started looking into breeds so found the breeds my two black and white ones where and decided to get those from a hatchery so got 2 slw pullets and a pair of glw and other breeds, the glw roo was the first rooster I purposely bought.
Now every bird I have is a descendant to that rooster from 20120601
3. Which aspects of poultry keeping do you enjoy the most?
My favorite part is hatching!! I just love hatching my next gen to try to improve my projects!
4. Which members of your flock, past and present, stand out for you and why?
My glw rooster, the roo that started my line (pic posted above) kept his line alive because dogs killed him and I had three eggs in the bator and only 1 made it and she was a pullet
and from that hen I hatched the next gen and so on, and my line went in two different directions one was my wyandotte project

5. What was the funniest poultry related thing that has happened to you in your years as an owner?
Once got locked in my coop before also had one of my original leghorns get caught up in a fly strip.
6. Beside poultry, what other pets do you keep?
I have 26 budgies, 3 bettas,4 guppies and a swordtail along with 13 rats an old dog and a cat my most recent litter of rats

7. Anything you'd like to add?
My favorite singer is Imogen heap. My favorite movie is Babes in Toyland. I have a Horse,Sims,Bratz,Toy Story and M&M collection. Weird fact is I have to know when something is born or hatched I hate not knowing how old something is so I literally have hatchdates for all my birds, budgies included and I have all my rats birthdays written down aswell. Even with my fish I have when I got them lol so I know how old all my animals are. I think...thats about it.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your story, thanks for sharing! 
You've had a lot of different critters. All of them adorable, and gorgeous. Your old dog especially. Is it a Cavalier? Nothing more embarrassing than getting locked in the coop. Seems like a rite of passage for many of us. It makes us industrious.
